The beautifully patterned painted tile was placed throughout Guenther’s MHS resort. The Dagoti Tile Company in Los Angeles imported tile from Holland and Italy for use in the fountains, pools, and countertops around the resort. The Italian tile in the entry to the men’s bathhouse was bright blue, yellow, black, and white.
Once Calvary Chapel purchased the resort back in 1995, Pastor Chuck Smith hired local artist Karl Bentz to rework the original tiles into mosaics around the property. His work, which includes verses, phrases, and even some animals, can be seen throughout MHS today!
